Have you ever walked away from a conversation thinking:
“I wish I’d said what I really felt.”
Or perhaps you’ve found yourself agreeing with others simply to avoid conflict, only to feel frustrated later because your true feelings remained unspoken.
Many of us have experienced this. We silence ourselves to keep the peace, avoid rejection or protect ourselves from being misunderstood. Over time, those unspoken emotions can leave us feeling disconnected—not only from others, but from ourselves.
This is where chakra awareness offers a valuable perspective.
The Journey from the Heart to the Voice
In many chakra traditions, the Heart Chakra is associated with love, compassion and emotional openness, while the Throat Chakra is linked to communication, truth and authentic expression.
Between them, some expanded chakra systems describe the Luna Plexus Chakra (Thymus Chakra) which is seen as a bridge between what we feel and what we are able to express.
When Feelings Stay Trapped
Think about the times you’ve swallowed your words.
Perhaps you didn’t want to upset someone you love.
Perhaps you feared being judged.
Perhaps you worried your feelings weren’t important enough.
When emotions remain unspoken, they don’t necessarily disappear. Instead, they can influence our relationships, our decisions and the stories we tell ourselves.
Awareness invites us to notice these patterns without criticising ourselves.
Instead of asking, “Why can’t I speak up?” try asking:
“What am I protecting?”
That single question can reveal more than any quick answer.
Thanks!
